ALL ABOUT ME
My name is Charlotte Ansell and I am 21 years old. All through my life I have struggled with health problems. Some of these problems are physical, and some are psychological.
From that moment on I carried on spiralling down a slippery slope, and very soon after starting college I was diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety. I started a six week course of group therapy. After I had competed the 6 week course, my depression wasn‟t getting any better, so I started 1-1 counselling sessions and after about two and a half months my depression was in remission.
Whilst in college, I was also going through an array of genetic tests and other investigations to discover if I had any other health conditions. As a result of these tests I was diagnosed with vestibular weakness and central auditory processing disorder, and I am also awaiting further tests as I suffer from joint problems and extreme fatigue.
In addition to this I also have an eating disorder. This makes every day, no every minute of the day, a constant battle to resist the temptation to eat.
And if this wasn‟t enough to deal with, in March 2017 I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis (a form of inflammatory bowel disease). This left me house bound and eventually I became agoraphobic. Due to my Ulcerative Colitis, which had rapidly become severe, I had no choice but to be admitted in to hospital. Whilst in hospital I was put on strong IV steroids and a cocktail of other drugs.
Unfortunately after only a 6 month battle with the illness, I had to have the whole of my large bowel re-moved, and I am now living with a stoma. Since then I have been in hospital for a water infection and I have had issues with my potassium, sodium and folic acid levels, and most recently I have suffered with a blood clot in my leg.
Despite all this I continue to try and stay positive through my good and bad days. I am so grateful that I am much healthier now, out of pain and can have a life again.
Life is good
