Our Mission

To provide a platform for LGBT+ voices to be heard through activities, monthly drop-in sessions, social activities and social media. To contribute to the development and maintenance of LGBT+ inclusive services in North Somerset through engagement with statutory, non-statutory bodies and organisations. To listen and respond to real-time feedback from members of our community, including our allies and those individuals from other marginalised communities regarding the support needed within the North Somerset area and respond accordingly within the capacity of the charity and the trustees and volunteers who support us.

Race Equality North Somerset (RENS) is an award-winning, volunteer-run, community-focused charity advocating social, racial and cultural justice.

We work with local government, the VCSFE sector and other strategic partners to promote and support the rights, interests, welfare and wellbeing of racially minoritised ethnic communities in North Somerset.

Across the UK, approximately 15% of the population is born outside the UK. In North Somerset, where over 80 languages are spoken, our charity serves the growing demand for the identification, co-ordination and delivery of appropriate policies, strategies and services for our increasingly ethnically diverse communities.

The JHF provides personalised mentoring and tutoring support for young people aged 8 - 18 (or 25 with an EHCP) in North Somerset.

Our mission:

Positive Relationships: Lasting Impact

Through strong, supportive relationships, we enable young people to overcome obstacles, acquire new skills, and improve their wellbeing, ensuring they are prepared for the transition to adulthood.

Our mentoring and tutoring programmes are designed to empower young people, helping them build confidence, skills and the resilience necessary to thrive. We have an outdoor learning centre which is a sanctuary- a safe, calm and quiet space for being outdoors where we grow organic fruit and vegetables all year-round.
